ProKyma is developing a 3-part business strategy for commercialisation of KymaSep. The first is development of our own diagnostic test for TB detection in sputum. This is under development and will be validated against microscopy, culture and PCR detection methods. This product will be sold through our sales team and distributors. The second is a sample processing solution for cleaning up treated samples. One example is a module working with a flow cytometer to clean up leukocytes, washing away red cell debris. Others include detection of colorectal cancer cells in faeces, having removed the PCR inhibitors. This product will be sold through 3rd party companies alongside their own detection systems. The third area is to licence the technology for incorporation into clinical analysers using magnetic particles in immunoassay or molecular biology applications. We anticipate that the simplicity of the approach, with no moving parts and software control to manipulate and resuspend particles will form the basis of the next generation systems.
