ProKyma is developing KymaSep, a bacterial and mammalian cell separation product. The instrument uses dual forces of ultrasound and magnetism to improve and automate magnetic particle handling.

The system consists of an instrument that controls the fluidics as well as generating the ultrasonic and magnetic fields. A disposable chip is used with the chamber, ensuring that all reactions are enclosed and avoiding risks of cross-contamination or health issues from aerosol production.

A consumable design
Possible consumable design

Possible consumable design modeled around a 96 well plate footprint. ProKyma is currently investigating the concentration capabilities of these dimensions to determine the practicability of processing a 3 mL sample in 10 minutes.
