What samples have you already investigated for PCR detection?
We have already investigated soil, blood and faecal samples and shown that in the absence of our process, no discernible PCR amplification was detected, but after our treatment quantifiable amplification was measured.
Do you separate on size?
No. Several parties are working on this application and in our view it is still at the academic research stage. We focus on improving existing detection systems by either washing away soluble inhibitors or by allowing cross linking or staining to be enhanced through use of ultrasound.
The density of magnetic particles does enhance the aggregation.
Is your technology patent protected?
We have 4 patent applications filed. With a thorough understanding of the intellectual property landscape and the freedom to operate possibilities, we file patents with a high degree of novelty and continue to strengthen our position.
What are the typical cell sizes that you investigate?
We are interested in biological cells, therefore our work focuses on 1.5 µm (magnetic particles /bacteria), 5-10 µm (erythrocytes) up to 20 µm (eukaryotic cells).
